Spring is very special for Japanese people. 桜 (sakura), cherry blossom symbolises spring to most of the Japanese people.
Fully blossomed sakura trees are literally mesmerising. You just can’t take your eyes off from them.
Sakura isn’t only exiting thing in spring. Almost right after the sakura season, here comes the time for 新茶 / 一番茶 (sincha / ichibancha), the first flush green tea. First flush tea is also very special.
It is said that having first flush tea brings luck and long healthy life. This is because the tea is packed with full of nutrition which has been stored during winter. The tea contains more theanine so that it has sweet flavour and fresh aroma.
Shincha is a great treat after long winter!
